A young entrepreneur probably read a lot of articles that offer advice to new business. But, how many articles are actually direct you as a budding entrepreneur?
Reporting from sites Entrepreneur, John Ramton (30), a former young entrepreneurs and connectors from California, USA to share his experience in building a business. He said there are 10 points to be considered by entrepreneurs.
1. Do what you love
When graduating from college, I worked at a job I did not like due to good pay. I hate going to work every day. I recognize that employers usually make employees in a bad situation because they want the company to grow its own out there.
Figure out what you like and then be the best thing fun. Your passion for your product or service will keep you motivated and get you through the tough times. Yes, there will be times when challenged. But, when you work on something you really care (as opposed to just trying to make a quick buck), you might be happy to have a direction and fought as hard as he could do to make this crazy idea a reality.
2. Stay focused
It's very tempting to jump from one project to another, especially when it looks as if a million chance came. But, do not be distracted by the tantalizing picture. Instead of working on multiple projects, stay on course and finish the task at hand.
If you're working on multiple projects, will have an effect on performance, productivity and resources. Better perfect against the main things than working on five projects, but not the focus.
3. Exploitation of online resources
The Internet is a gold mine source. For example, visit the website of the US Small Business Administration for advice on writing a business plan, legal considerations, loans and even local resources to help you get the idea to start a business. There are many online sources awesome.
4. Find a mentor
Having a mentor is one of the best resources you can have.
Not only because the mentor have the experience, they also have an extensive network and help you connect with the right people for your business success.
Many of the big names helping young entrepreneurs as a way of giving back. I met my mentor when she was 12 years old. He is the owner of a large carpet store. I asked, would you be my mentor? He said yes. He was a mentor to me today along with many others.
5. Keep yourself
As an entrepreneur, you may find it easier to push an important addition to a healthy lifestyle, such as exercising, eating a balanced diet and getting enough sleep secure. But, what's the point if you are tired or your immune system is weak? Exercise is a great way to relieve stress.
Do not forget to make time for yourself. You need to take time off from work or you may burn yourself out. I personally like to listen to the reading of books since childhood. I'm not good at reading because they have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder so that listening to a book. Find what works for you!
6. Determine the market
Failed to determine the market is a common mistake that many young entrepreneurs do. Always remember to consider if your business plan makes sense for the market. If you are dreaming of a pizza delivery service, you start in bisnisdi county or city? There are several ways for you to try to determine your market, such as the demographic or psychological factors.
I always hear people in the fashion industry say that their world is a market worth USD1.2 trillion. Technically they may be right. But if your product is a hipster pants, not USD1.2 trillion market. How many hipsters in the world? how many of them will buy your products on an annual basis?
7. Being able to explain the business
You never know when it will have to explain the business. You can run to the investor in the elevator or eventually make a sales pitch to customers. You should always be ready to explain the mission, services and products or destination quickly.
This is something I learned from Derek Anderson, founder of Startup Grind, who hosted the show for entrepreneurs. He took me to lunch about three years ago and asked what I was doing and the business being promoted? I really do not know how to answer. Since then, I have perfected. Thus, when someone asks what I do? I can tell them in five words or less.
Practice your 5 seconds, 15 seconds and 1 minute repeatedly, this will help you be able to explain the business to anyone out there, and in any situation.
8. Remember, in business
You are guaranteed some funds that do not give the right to act like a rock star. A luxury home, an office with a shark tank or a very fast car, all just a waste of money, especially at the start of the business. Remember, in running a business you have to be careful in managing cash flow. Make sure you keep track of expenses. This is wise because you definitely do not want to burn all the money too quickly.
9. Follow the rules
Being an entrepreneur, you are the boss. You can create your own time and develop a vision of a company. In short, you can do whatever it wants. It was awesome. But, remember there are some rules that all entrepreneurs to follow, such as registering your business and pay taxes. These are just some of what is not so pleasant. But, this can help you in trouble.
10. Know when to quit
I've successfully run and sold several different companies, but do you know when I start and stop? Some say nine out of every 10 businesses fail in the first few years.
Do not let the price deter you to close the company. I learned this the hard way in college when it launched what became the first failure.
I know what is being done is not working or making money. I continue to put money into it and spend time on it. Finally, I must give up pride and stop. You know when to let go.
If you are not familiar with the classic Kenny Rogers song The Gambler, stop what you're doing and check it out. It provides some of the best advice ever. Why? Just like a big gambler, you have to know when to stop. Instead of continuing to work on a business that is not profitable, it is best to go and reflect on what went wrong. It's not easy. But it was inevitable. You will take the business to the next lesson.
